When is the best time to use a doe decoy now that the rut is coming in? Morning, evening, noon? Does anyone use estrus sent around the decoy/ rattle/ grunts?

Any time of day right now would be worth a try. Estrous scent couldnt hurt either. Face the decoy away from you as most bucks will approach her from behind for scent purposes.

I don't know where you hunt and the rut varies by location. If the rut is in full swing you may do better with a doe deke. Otherwise I've had better luck using a buck deke. It pisses off/curious the other bucks and really pisses off those that think they're boss. I think motion has much to do with using a deke. They make battery operated tail waggers but mine always made a clicking noise so I quit using it. I use a paper towel attached to the tail of my deke so that it blows somewhat in the wind. It catches their eye. I use it with and without scent but I've never been able to tell any difference in the outcome.
