Do Bell and Carlson stocks reduce felt recoil?

I was looking for a sporter configuration 300WM, but I found a Tikka T3 Lite SS in 338WM for a price that I couldn't pass up. I went ahead and ordered a B&C Medallist for it, but the factory stock is better/stiffer than I expected and I should be able to use it at all field positions with a sling just fine. I'm beginning to wonder if it just needs a new recoil pad. If the B&C doesn't really help reduce recoil then I will return it, but i can't return it if it has been used, so I would like y'all's input.

The recoil is substantial with 225gr Superformance in this light rifle, but handloaded 210 TSXs or 185 GMXs should help to tame that a bit.

Thoughts?
 
For clarification, I have a B&C stock on my Savage 116 30-06, but it replaced the crappy factory Tupperware stock. This Tikka stock is much stiffer than that.
 
I think some of it will depend on how the B&C fits you. I had one on my Tikka T3 Superlite in 300WM and it reduced felt recoil pretty significantly for me. Some of that is fit and some is the quality recoil pad on the B&C. It might be less expensive to try the Limbsaver Airtech on the factory stock first. Also, on the 338 WM, I would immediately swap our the stock recoil lug with a steel one from Mountain Tactical. The OEM recoil lug is notorious for deforming in heavy recoiling rifles. It's a $20 fix.
 
I would say no, in and of itself, a new stock is not going to reduce felt recoil. if it does, it is because either A) it is heavier which takes more energy to get moving or B) because the recoil pad is better and absorbs more of the recoil energy.

It's all physics. More weight will help so depending on the difference, it may help some. The recoil pad will affect more.
 
Thank you for the input. I had been told about the lug needing to be replaced, but I didn't know which one to get or where to get it from. A buddy is letting me use an old Limbsaver on the factory stock for now.I really like the B&C that I have, but I didn't pay attention to the recoil factor on the '06. B&C claims recoil reduction, but all mfgs claim stuff, so I didn't know how much I should expect for the price. I'm going to try the factory stock a few more times before deciding.

My SUperlite in 300 win mag with the B&C was really no worse than my T3 in 30-06 shooting 180 grain loads. It still had a fair amount of recoil but I could shoot it comfortably. I will say of my 4 Tikka's I only have one with the OEM stock and the Limbsaver Airtech is really nice. It's on a 243 so I really don't need it for the recoil, just to add to the length of pull a bit.

Factory stock is right around 28 oz. and maybe a touch more with the limbsaver vs. OEM recoil pad.

The B&C is very close to 35 oz.
 
I like my BC stock as it gives a nice feel to the t3 but i had some issues where i had to sand the barrel channel down because it was touching the barrel. Also there is an issue where the forearm looks crooked. There isnt even space on each side of the barrel.
