Disturbing Article on CVA

I have a CVA inline muzzeloader that is about 7 years old. I have been pondering getting a new muzzeloader this year. Read this article and it scares me to even go hunting with my CVA in the morning. Any thoughts?

No idea.
Probably not.

My guess is that you could find similar articles about other guns, and gun mfg's.
Nature of the business.

If I had a CVA for 7 years, I would keep hunting with it. JMO.

I had actually purchased a CVA back in the late 90s and they had a recall and sent me the gun that I currently have. Have had no problems with it yet. Just read this article and it shook me up a little bit.

I would hate to give up my CVA Hunterbolt. It sure shoots good with powerbelts.

I use a CVA, it can handle mag. load but only use 100grs. So I hope it shouldn't have any problems. But it does may you think.

I shoot 100 grains powder and 250 grain Shockwave. Gonna dig my manual back out today and do some reading.

My Omega SS barrel shoots 150gr (3) 777 pellets fine.
Sweet shooter.

I read another article along those lines the other night. Seems the Spanish company that makes the guns and proofs the barrels only proofed some of them to 10000 psi while some user manuals had load data calling for three 50gr pellet charges. Testing showed that three pellets often exceeded 25,000psi chamber pressure.

Hodgdon doesn't recommend more than two of their pellets, pyrodex or 777, be used in any model ML and disclaims any liabiltiy on their website for exceeding a two pellet charge.

My dad shoots 150 grain through his Omega. Interesting that they have the disclaimer over 100 grain. Something to think about...
