But seriously, I've used a blind and decoys, its not my preferred method of hunting and I really dont want to do it,but wwhen Iwas on graveyard shift I would use that tactic just to be in the woods. I never was very successful but I did manage some good naps.
The only affliction I really have for spring Turkey hunting are overpriced shells and custom made calls

I just find it hilarious that if everyone isn't sitting in a circle holding hands and singing a few people get their feelings hurt.
Hunt how you like, cover your truck, gun, and person with stickers/patches, listen to speed metal, glorify the kill, worship tv personalities like Gods, and basically do what makes you happy. Who cares what other people think, after all it's a free country.
But don't get your feelings hurt when someone opposes the things you like. It's not the end of the world.

Totally agree with what you just said.Setterman said:The primary things giving hunters bad publicity are other hunters, period.
Inside the hunting community each year a handful of hunters do awful stuff and bring everyone down with them.
Nothing brings the antis running in for blood like a hunter glorifying killing, excessively killing, or promoting the art of killing.
Hunting for food, enjoyment of outdoors, conservation activities, respect for the animals, spending time with friends and family all are things which the majority of antis can understand.
What they don't get, is speed metal cranking up when a tv personality kills something. They don't understand is why skulls are present everywhere now (t shirts, stickers, etc). They don't understand, names like "bone collector" which signify it being cool to kill and have no relation to enjoying the experience rather just how much bone and blood can be spilled.
Go look at a Rage ad, gobbler guillotine ad, or a NAP ad and you'll see our fellow hunters giving the antis all kinds of ammo to use against us.
I'm not one to appease anyone, but I understand how the "cool" stuff in the hunting industry is being perceived on the outside
First off my feelings are not hurt lol if you knew me you would know that. I agree with what you said in the above quoted post But for someone to say dont hunt if you have to use decoys? Really? Or its a shame what decoys have done to turkey hunting? Lol. If it would help get a few more people intrested in hunting i would have 20 decoys lol. I dont have any so it would be a reason to buy some. I also dont have any expensive calls no custom made gadgets only a mossberg 835 and the will to go i have been turkey hunting for only about the last 6 or 7 years and hope to be as good as all you are some dayWes Parrish said:Totally agree with what you just said.Setterman said:The primary things giving hunters bad publicity are other hunters, period.

And most of the hunting shows are not really so much about hunting as they are about killing, promoting some product, and/or an attempt to make the spokesshooter a celebrity so that he/she can be more appealing in the next infomercial.

I never said don't hunt if you have to use decoys, or that it was a shame what decoys have done to the sport. They sure have changed it, but so has a ton of things. I don't like decoys and refuse to use them, but that's me and my hunting style. Am I not entitled to hunt how I like?
I also use custom calls. Not because I like to spend money and flaunt myself as being superior for using them.
I use them because IMO they are superior in sound quality to a production call. Just my opinion again.
