Last time I made ABT's I used jalapenos and they were a little too hot for my liking so today I am gonna use some banana peppers. Has anyone ever done them this way & if so how did you like em? Oh yeah, these things are huge, LOL!!! Some of em I could get 3 lil smokies in em. 1 of em I had to use 3 pieces of bacon to get it wrapped!! I hope they're good!!!

Thanks Mike, I'm pretty new to the smokin game, so I'm still learning. The jalapeno ABT's were too hot for me, so I thought I'd try the banana peppers. Oh yeah, I've been ugly my whole doggone life. LOL!! Thanks, Kevin

trapper we just use cream & sharp chedder & whostershire sauce & then wrap with bacon,we use hot sausage when we make stuffed schrooms,mike243

You can make jalapeno ABT milder by removing all the seeds and membranes in each pepper.

I'm gonna be posting pictures of mine when they're done tomorrow. You beat me to it, but I refuse to back down.

I'm thinking of using some ground, seasoned venison for the meat side of the pepper.

Good luck with it tomorrow TJ. Seasoned ground venison sounds good to me!

Atomic Buffalo Turd :) & i allways remove membrane & seeds even on the banana peppers,mike243

here,s the basic to start with, use jalapenos or banana peppers split long ways & seeds /membrane removed, then cream & sharp chedder & whostershire sauce mixed together, fill & then wrap with bacon, grill till the bacon is done,mike243

tnjimbo, ABT's can be made a 100 different ways. If you have left over pulled pork, you can mix that in with the cheeses and stuff in the jalapeno.
Browned ground chorizo is good too. If you have some rub seasoning, mix a little in instead of the Worstechire that mike suggested.
The sky's the limit with ABT's.

Ground seasoned venison sounds delicious, TJ.

Kdxdude, I honestly hadn't thought of using banana peppers. I know that the last time I made them for my in-laws, even though I scraped the jalapenos,
they were too hot for some. If I used banana peppers, I wouldn't have to segregate the scraped and non-scraped jalapenos; they'd be easy to tell apart.
Thanks for the tip!

use 1 pack cream cheese & 1 lbs shreaded sharp cheedar & a healthy splash of whostershire sauce ,mike243
ps i dont add meat to these as i consider the bacon enuf & dont try to fill folks up on them, they are a apettizer (sp) :D happy cooking

I love them. And I started using a pound of hot pork sausage cooked and drained. Mixed with 8 ozs of cream cheese. Started using this about 5 or 6 years ago. And everyone loves them like this.
Also the longer you smoke them, The less heat they have. So for the ones that can not stand the heat. I smoke them for 2 hours and there like eating a mild pepper.
Pete
