Different bullets for practicing vs hunting?

I hunt with a 300 win mag. Just wondering if anyone on here reloads cheaper bullets for practicing and trigger time vs hunting. I'd like to load some premium bullets like nosler partitions for hunting but they are more than twice as expensive as some of the others like sierra. Just wondering if anyone practices with cheaper bullets vs what they hunt with. Seems like reloading partitions would be around $1 a round vs 50 cents for a sierra.

I do but it depends on the practice I'am doing.

I have found that the Sierra Pro Hunters shoots real close to the Partition in all but one of mine.They are also a good bit underrated for there on Game use.Point here is work a load with both and see how they both shoot in yours.

I like to do load work up with Hornady SSTs and hunt with Horndady Interbonds. The SSTs and the Interbonds have the same ballistic coefficient, so they tend to shoot close to the same. If you keep your eyes peeled midway and midsouth shooters supply will run factory 2nds or blemished sales. It is a great way to pick up alot of bullets on the cheap, and they still shoot just as good, most have discolorations like finger prints or tarnish.

in my 300 RUM the Hornady SP without the boat tail shoots exactly like the Partitions,,

I have tried just about everything and nothing beats the 150 Partition on deer sized game at the speeds the RUM pushes,,almost 3700,but at 35$ for 50 I shoot the Hornady all summer and ,21$ for 100,then switch back to the Nosler about 2 weeks before season.

My 270 shoots a 130 gr Sierra Gameking in to the same hole as the 130 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip.

I loaded up a bunch of lighweight bulk "blemished" 80 gr .243 bullets for the kids to practice with, but swicth to 85 gr Barnes or 95 gr SST for hunting. These require re-sighting the rifle, while the 270 mentioned above doesn't.

BTW Don't know why I didn't think of this sooner.You can go the Nosler site and get there seconds tto save some $ If you can catch what you want/need when yyou want/need it.

You know, I can't argue with you on that one. The NBT always got their deer, but a couple of them were pretty messy inside. I'm debating what to switch to; probably SST or maybe Barnes. It will be used for antelope, if I get a tag drawn.

BIG fan of nosler 2nds... for hunting and plinking.

Last batch I bought I got 6 bags of 200g AB's for $8/50
