With the hot weather really screwing up midday deer activity past few days, me and a buddy took out our rigs to stretch their legs getting ready for rifle season.

Started with a warm-up at 700 yards in a crosswind- clanged the steel every time, several in the center of the bullseye.

Moved back to 1000 yards, dialed in the dope and my buddy hit the 4" circle first shot! I followed and put the second shot right on top of his! That had to be the coolest thing... pulling the trigger, watching the target shake 1/2 sec later, then hearing the 'gong' about 2.5 s after the initial shot.

He tried his AR-15 at 1000, but that proved to be an exercise in futility :)

300 RUM's

I actually shot my lightweight 7 WSM (not set up as a long range gun, but the caliber is capable), and did fairly well at 700 yards, especially so, considering the rifle is under 7 lbs.

It helps being able to practice on the Taliban!

I said it sounds like fun. Prone with a 300 RUM...Maybe that might not be so much fun.....gotta be rough on the shoulder. Mine belts me plenty off the bench.
