My buddy works security at one of our hospitals that borders some pretty sizable woods on the outskirts of Memphis and found this while doing his patrol.

He said she was dead when he found her, but couldn't say how long. City had to come remove her. I've seen deer go over fences but never try to go through.

Ouch! I seen one here in a neighborhood last year that was impelled through his hind legs on the top of the fence.

I've seen them go over or through but I've never seen one hung up yet. That's got to be a terrible way to die. It'd be an adventure trying to free one.

Yea he said it really bothered him that she was so tore up from trying to free herself. Had to be a rough way to go.

This happens quite often. Usually it's smaller female deer that get their head and shoulders through but the hips wouldn't go through. It's not only deer. Last spring I removed a rabbit from a fence with 1.5x3 inch openings.

Years ago I freed a small 6pt that had his rack caught in a hog wire fence. Good thing he was pretty wore out, it was still a pretty good tussle :?

Came home earlier this year from taking kids to school and a little fawn was caught in my neighbors fence. I picked her up to get the pressure off her leg until he got there and cut the fence. She took off about 5 seconds after I set her down.
