Then i was freezing in the shooting house it started out at 15 degrees. So 915 I had to move go the bathroom lol. And as i was 30 yards behind the shooting house i was looking in the open area that i have killed bucks in.
Well I spotted a big deer and it was standing broad side but looking at me. Stare down the deer to be a big doe. I was trying to shoot in the offhand leaning against a tree. Bad idea, I stuck my beanie in my jacket on my left shoulder. I had a dam bulky jacket on mistake 2. Mistake 3 my 30/06 was in my left shoulder and I just could not get comfortable at all. Mistake 4 because this was my 7th hunt and I wanted another deer that I blew it. I squeezed the trigger and the deer turned its head and there was very nice curls on his head. My heart sunk. Mistake 5 but really 1 I should not have left shooting house.
This is buck based on where he was stand and looking at me his antlers were camouflaged by the elm tree leaves and the back drop of the leaves on the ground due to he was half way to the ridge top. Mistake 7 i never should have shot.
Look for blood nothing saw what I thought was ground penetration by my bullet. Went back and went through it in my mind and walked back up to look again, clean miss, that's when it happened I tripped and fell on my shoulder replacement. It was just not my day. I am doing good I will be sore tomorrow for sure but I got my 3 mile plus walk in lol.
