Deer problem

All right guys i have a problem. I was having an average of 150 pics a week. Now in the pat 2 weeks i have got 25 pics. Any ideas on how i can get them comming back in or why they would have stopped coming?

It's possible they stopped coming because you are going there. It's also possible they found a great corn field that was just cut or some beans somewhere. It's possible your camera flash is disturbing them if you aren't using black IR...lots of possibilities

well at first i thought it may be the flash but as i looked back at my pics it was taking 10 different pics of the same mature buck within 30 minutes of each other. im thinking it may be because of farmland around the area. there is not much for them to eat around my spot. guess ill have to kick back and wait for the rut.

EXCELLENT post Poser. To reiterate what Poser said:

"Summer ranges are shifting. Some other deer will likely move in so long as you have Fall food sources and/or good bedding cover and food in the area. Without serious alterations to your land, there is little you can do about this shift. As many discover, this can be a disappointing aspect to running trail cams."

Summer ranges change right around antler velvet shedding time. You are probably seeing the results of that.

They are all at my house. LOL

My deer just made their shift last week. I was beginning to worry but they are right where they are supposed to be. I suspect your deer are shifting as well.

They are not shiftless as some seem to think :)

Exactly...the does have their fawning areas ...such as my place .and they are just now allowing the bucks back in.
They will not allow the Bucks around their new born.just like any Mammal.
In the next couple weeks we will see some drastic changes.

Several reasons exist for seasonal range-shifting. Some of this shifting has to do with food sources, but the big summer-to-fall shift is more about social dynamics than food. In summer, bucks group together to form bachelor groups. Individual bucks may travel a considerable distance from their "normal" fall range to participate in these bachelor groupings, hence someone that has been watching or camera-monitoring a group of bucks on their property all summer may see many of these bucks leave come antler velvet shedding (which happens coincident with bachelor groups breaking up and bucks shifting to their normal fall ranges, which may be a mile or more away).

Does establish fawning territories while they are rearing newborn fawns. These fawning territories may be miles away from their normal range. Once fawns are weened, the doe and her fawn(s) return to their normal range.

So you can see both shifting of individual bucks and individual does considerable distances at this time of year. That's why I tell hunters who run cameras in summer to take that information with a huge grain of salt. They can see a big "turnover" in individual deer that are using their property from summer to fall hunting season.

X-2....if you allready know what is there, why keep disturbing them unnecessarily?......My next encounter would be with the bow.....leave them undisturbed. ;)
