How often will deer swim a swollen creek? I know they prefer shallow easy crossing areas, and a creek going up can stop them from crossing, but how often have any of y'all seen them swim it anyway? Are they more likely to swim it once bucks are up and pushing does around?

If the creek is flowing with current they are less likely to cross. If its not flowing they will swim it if they really feel the need to get somewhere.

They wont let up if they want across i always heard it would deter them. Hunt percy a couple of times and watch them swim to a island when being persued

I've seen a doe swim aross the Mississippi River. No joke!
Well I was about to say I watched three does swim across the duck river once, but you already played the trump card.

When the Obion river was up last year we had ten deer come off the dry levee and swim past our duck blind and through our decoys and into the woods in 12 feet of water. They were heading in the direction of high ground but they had 1000+ yards though the timber to get there.

Friend of mine shot a huge 8 pointer that had just swam across a wide deep ditch a couple years ago.

I have seen a few swim some fairly fast moving water before. Also have seen a big group swimming from a island during a bass tourney on Priest. Pretty cool.

They swim the creek on my property all the time, whether its normal or high.

there are no deer on islands on Percy.... they're afraid of water.

Glad you said it. No deer out there at all. ;)

Back during turkey season (it was still cold), I watched a doe swim across a slough at Chaney that was full of water. The deer was definitely swimming through. I've come to the determination that they couldnt' care less if there's water around. They'll go whatever direction they want to go.
