Years ago I kept it out at a property and they kept it looking like a mud hole. They used it but it had to be kept fresh or they stopped coming to it.

it is predominantly soda ash which I just purchased for 14 bucks a 50# bag. I like to use it with Trace Mineral which they constantly pound the heck out of.

wher edid you find it for 14.00 i paid 20.00 for mine at co-op .thats a good price at 14.00

I've used it a couple times a year in my mineral licks to try to get the deer to eat more of the stuff that's good for them. I mean real minerals rather than just salt or other attractants. The deer co-caine does really make them come back for more. I have never tried making my own but am going to do so now that I see what is in it.

yep! Got a hole right now over a foot deep.

Deer Cane produced the same results for me, too. I'm sure there are cheaper DIY options, but to answer your question-yes, I've had good results with it.

I used it for several years back in the 80's. I would freshen up the same hole with it several times a year. Eventually the hole got so large that it would hold water all winter. I watched many deer use it over the years. But the strangest thing was the squirrels. They would walk up the hole and get a drink and then run away like a scalded dog. I don't know why they ran away but it was always amusing to watch those tree rats run away.
If I could still hunt the ridge it was on I would probably still be using the deer cane.

I put it out in the summer and they dug a small pond. Kept it fresh til ML season, never saw a single deer there. Wierd. Didn't have a camera back then.

It works great for me. I always buy it up in bulk at Wal-Mart after season for a clearance price. I follow the directions word for word. My first application will last 30 days and then 60 days after that. I like to pour it on a stump rather than on the ground. A lot of people who don't get good results use it in the fall and that is probably because that is the only time Wal-Mart sales it. It is good for spring and summer.

Deer cane is all i buy

x2

I've never felt the need to use anything else. I usually kill a doe or two first 2 weeks of season coming to one of my deer cane licks. I got 1680 pics in 2.5 weeks back a few weeks ago on one of them.
