First one of the year this morning. Doe on Priest. Should have snapped another on the ground but forgot. She came in and blew at my boat then decided to run from it and ran under my tree. I was going to shoot her at 3-5yds but she saw me and ran out to 12 yds. Then blew at me and stomped so I stuck an arrow in her side. She went 25 yds and fell.

In this set up yes. The water is literally 25 yds behind me. I do that so that it makes it hard for them to cross behind me and from my experience at this spot (and PP in general) they don't like to stay too close to the shore line, so it puts them in front of me and if I can get the right wind, makes it very hard for them to bust me. Unless of course they walk right under me... Usually the trail they take puts them 15-20 yds in front of me. This one was closer to the shore than normal, so she saw my boat. Normally they walk within 30-40 yds of it and never know it is there.

Another good thing about this set up is I only have to walk about 50-60 yds from my boat, so less sweating and a short drag when they fall in sight. :lol:

I figured you were since you said she spooked at the boat.
When I was younger and hunted the lake around home we usually didn't get far from the shore either. Lots of activity just a few yards inside the woods.

Congrats man! It's really nice hunting from the boat sometimes. I shot a doe on Priest last Sunday. Had less than a 100 yard drag to the boat [emoji1360]
