I have a few spots I can hunt in Smith county (northeastern Middle TN) including a pond and a creek bottom that floods.

I did a drive-by yesterday and saw a good amount of standing water (quarter acre pool of approximately 12-16" deep) in the creek bottom. Would you guys recommend that I throw out a few decoys today or tomorrow prior to my hunting this weekend? Or should I wait and throw some out the morning of my hunt?

Keep in mind, there aren't a lot of ducks in the area. I've been seeing some local woodies, a few Mergansers, and a few lost Mallards in the last few weeks.

I was hoping that I might attract some birds to hang around for a while.

Kinda 6 in one hand/half dozen in the other. For me it would be a time management thing over what the ducks will think. If you can toss them out that morning that's what I'd do.

A lot of the flooded fields in my area are covered with birds today. However, they will drain quickly. IMO I would focus on the pond unless that water will stay high for a while.
