So I thought I was dead set on getting a Ruger M77 Hawkeye sythetic stainless in .243 until I started looking at the Winchester model 70 Featherweight stainless. The sythetic is about $400 more than the Ruger but the walnut is less than a $100 more and much easier on the eyes IMO. That said I will have to put a cover around it because I'm paranoid about scratching wood which is why I haven't bought a wood stock gun in quite a while. However this one keeps calling me back so now I'm unsure of which one I want. I own a model 70 in 30-06 but have never owned a Ruger before. What do the people say?

BTW, it's all Model70Man's fault I'm now undecided since I asked him some questions.

I hunt with this rifle. IMO, hunting with a great piece of wood on a fine rifle adds more to the experience.
