Yesterday I found a dead fawn in our pond. I found it after catching the sent in the wind while canoeing. I went over on the bank and pulled it out. No idea how long it'd been in the water. It was fairly small, and seemed to be nothing left but a skeleton under hide with the guts. I did not hang around to inspect because the smell was bad.

My first though was EHD. There were coyote tracks up and down the bank so I'm sure they've been feeding on it. But why would they take it in the water if they caught it on land.

Then I pulled my camera card from the dam a couple hundred yards away. These pics were 4 days earlier. No idea if it's the same fawn. But does make me lean toward yotes on the one I found vs ehd.




 
It's hard to argue with that series of pics. At the least, you know they are harassing them, and more than likely catching a few here and there.
 
There are any number of documented coyote on human attacks.

They will catch and kill stray dogs or cats or any pet left outside.

Strictly as my opinion I think these miserable animals kill poults and fawns and they'd take a bite outta me if they had the chance.

Kill thm all. Dog fluffy kitten pups. Show no mercy.

Our deer numbers are in the toilet this year, despite having logging completed a few months ago. The Virginia deer kill was down close to 25% last year. And I still have to kill 2 does if I want to tag out on bucks due to earn a buck regs. I will still take the does, but no doe fawns for sure. I have gotten more yote pics in the last year than the last 10 years combined. And the fox have disappeared.

I am a trapper and have taken as many as a dozen yotes off of a property. But never really had much chance to trap my own place due to short interval visits. I will make a special effort this year.
 
Looks pretty obvious the yote was after the fawn.

Kill every rotten yote I can here. Been getting more and more pics of them here recently and not getting pics of fawns.
