Anyone do any fishing in or around Daytona? Charter,Party boat, or from shore. Any advice?

Summer time is whiting and pompano from the beach. Head South to Ponce Inlet area and fish where there is a trough/drop off close to the beach. OR head north to St. Augustine and fish the blow hole area near the old pier.
Whiting like shrimp/clams/sand fleas. Pompano love clams and sand fleas.
You can also pick up some spanish mackerel, bluefish (they prefer live fish but cut bait works as well) and jacks.
Redfish roam the inlets and beaches sometimes as well.
3 weeks ago the bonnet head sharks were in Ponce Inlet THICK but they moved out.
For charters, its probably worth the money to go on a charter boat and not a party boat. The good snapper/grouper fishing will be out past 150 feet this time of year and that means long runs on a bigger boat. If you opt for a party boat, ask how far they go out and how long they fish. Also ask if the crew fishes, if so, find another boat. Most party boats fish the closer reefs which get pounded pretty hard and most of the bigger fish have moved to deeper water this time of year. You also can pick up pelagic fish like dolphin, wahoo, sailfish, marlin, and kings in the deeper water. Most of them have moved deeper (150 ft ++) by the end of May.
Heading out of daytona its about a 25 mile run to 150'. "the curve" is even further out.
