finally got around to doing some testing.

well there are some pro and cons for sure

there is no question you get more speed with less powder

i achieved same speed with 200 sst with 2.4 grains less than before h4198


accuracy i cant say it is better than a savage breach plug but i certainly cant say it is worse

no issues with firing of course it was 77 degrees

The plug I gave you is one-of-a-kind well, besides the one I am using in my H&R. I made it myself out of 17-4 stainless steel. Jeff doesn't make a Savage plug replacement that is Direct Ignition. DI was pioneered by Phil Jusles in North Carolina. Hankins acquired his permission to mass produce the system. You don't need to tighten the modules more than finger tight so carrying a socket is just for in case you can't loosen the module due to frozen fingers, etc. It sure beats dealing with a duplex charge. Hope you enjoy it.

That is what I was going to advise. Just put a piece of 220grit sand paper on a flat surface and make a few strokes at a time in a circular pattern and try again. If the action closes by just tightening the module, you are only a couple thousandths high.

The 209 primers are crushable and Slufoot didn't have to headspace them as precisely.

If you have a drill press that the plug will fit in place a piece of sandpaper on a flat hard surface beneath the chuck and apply pressure at high RPM

The DI system is not for everyone but in a break action it works very well, it eliminates the need to beat and bang on the gun to get the extractor pin out and you can remove the plug at any time. I will guarantee it will ignite any load that is dry no matter how loose it is
