Normally we have maybe two hatches around here a year. Not this year. Must be global warming. As I watch a tow enter the lock here, it is completely covered. He said he got them around the mouth of Elk River this morning. This might be the worst I've ever seen and I've seen some bad ones. These 15 barges look like you painted them on there and the boat looks black.

Dang fish ought to be happy!
 
I took my wife fishing this afternoon and we stayed until it started getting dark. Just at dusk the sky was literally full of willow flies. I have never seen so many in my life. It looked like something out of a Stephen King novel.

I was running trotlines on the Duck several years ago during a huge hatch. Someone left the spotlight on in my boat- there were mayflies 8" deep in the bottom of it. I shoveled them out with the boat paddle. Imagine masses of insects the size of a basketball floating down the river. I'm sure I made some catfish mighty happy that night!
 
I love may flys(willow flys, what ever you want to call them), dont know why but just lovem.
