Dang I killed one--graphic

Shot my first deer of the year, and I am not happy about it. Was a button. I looked but not good enough. 2nd sickest feeling next to losing one. Shot it with a muzzy and wow did it cut. Went in broadside lung and with the angle exited in the front "arm pit". 20 yard recovery. Broke the leg but I won't be shooting that broadhead again. Never had one break before. It almost cut the front leg off.

Congrats. Much worse things than shooting a button, there will be plenty more. He will eat good. I almost shot a button that came by me today, since I was doing some herd thinning I don't care if its a button but I let him walk only because I had a bad itch for a big doe. Don't let it get you down that you shot a button buck, at least you killed a deer and made a great shot. Seriously those fawns have the best meat

Muzzy's are bad to the bone !!

If you don't want to kill button bucks the best advice I ever got was, never shoot a single antlerless deer.

Unless I am hunting on managed property I could care less if I kill a button or not, but that's just me.

Since I have been hunting where it is a bad thing to kill one and gone by the no single rule I have never killed one there in 5 years.

Been there just last season. Was bittersweet...bitter about taking out a potential nice future buck, but sweet eating! Some of the best tasting meat I've ever eaten period.

Congrats.....It will eat good. As far a the broadhead, it can and will happen to any of them--Muzzy is a tried and true had that has killed millions of deer, and will continue to do so....keep firing away.

Oh about the broadhead, I haven't shot muzzys or had one break yet. I shoot thunderheads and have had more than one leg bone hit that broke the leg clean in two and bent one of the blades. Both were heart shots and both were...... fawns
