I'm looking to buy some d loop material. What is the best to buy that will last the longest? also has any one ever put serving on your d loop to make it last longer?

I use BCY#24 from http://www.60xcustomstrings.com/d-loop/ for mine. They're so cheap and easy to replace, I don't personally see a reason to serve them. Also, I could see issues arising from an increased loop diameter. They last a couple years for me, and I shoot a fair bit.

I've used BCY #24 for years as well. I change mine every few months because I shoot so much, but it is just for precautionary reasons. I did pick up this new rope last month at Kentucky that is half of the size of BCY #24 and seems to be much more durable. JustJerry recommended it and he shoots more than me and so far it is holding up much better than BCY—I just put mine on a week ago. If the guy is up at the Metropolis shoot, I'll get more information on it.

The stuff tndeer guy is referring to is made by Gibbs. It is their newest material 1.8mm diameter. I have been using #24d for years and love it but JustJerry swears by this new Gibbs and he shoots 100x more than me so I trust him. I'm gonna be trying some soon

That's it, thanks fasteddie! Here is their website. It is not on there, but they do have it—you will just have to call. They do not have a great selection of colors, but I think they had it in green, yellow, white and black. (I bought the black)

I've been shooting it primarily with a caliper release. Normally, by this time I'm seeing discoloration with the #24, this stuff I am not.

Okay, after having this new Gibbs stuff on for several weeks now and having an issue with it, I retract my previous recommendation. I had something happen that I've never had happen with bcy #24....the loop came apart at the knot/mushroom and I smacked myself in the mouth. I've put bcy#24 back on and will be sticking with that.
I will say though that the Gibbs rope was awesome--it didn't show any signs of wear, unlike #24, but because of the type of material it is, I never could get a mushroom that I was comfortable with--this stuff doesn't melt like bcy#24 does. I've since tried multiple times but it just never mushroomed to my satisfaction so it won't be used by me. Just passing it along.

That is correct 30 days! I shoot a hinge release exclusively and some other releases may be kinder gentler on the loop material. Yes, it's true I will shoot a lot of arrows in a weeks time, averaging about 100 -150 a day.
