What has been your turn around time for getting deer tested for CWD? We are currently waiting on four deers results. Today marks three weeks for the first two killed on the juvenile hunt. Online they just say pending. Just curious on turn around time. If it is this slow before gun season started, I am scared to see how long it will be now that the bulk of deer are getting killed.

I shot a buck october 13th and got results about the 30th. As they have more deer turned in I am sure it is gong to slow down, but should be coming soon. I also am not sure how quick the processor gets the samples sent out. I dropped my deer off on a sunday and it may have taken a few days to get it out to TWRA.

I dropped off a doe at the processor on Nov 1 and got an email notifying non-detect on Nov 13. So very good news.

My confirmation and results have not been posted on the website as of when I looked yesterday. So it appears all sampling is not available.

We dropped off 2 more samples this week so we will see what the turnaround is.

I shot a doe on 10/23 and the head wasn't picked up until 10/28. I got the good news on 11/7. That's only 9 days from pickup to results and 14 days total.

Question for those of you waiting on results. Where are the deer? Are that at the processor, or do you have them in a cooler?

If they are at a processor, do you go ahead and pay first? Do they wait until the results come through before they process to keep from contaminating their equipment? If you have it yourself and it comes back negative, can you take it to a processor then with proof of results and how would you prove it was the same deer?

From last year's experience, the processor only holds the heads for TWRA, who comes around once or twice a week to collect them.

Positive or negative?

CWD not detected!

We took ours to the processor and had processed. We did purchase the CWD insurance. So if it is negative we are good to go. If positive we have to return the meat. Then they either do the next deer for free or refund the money.

CWD insurance, huh? How much was that? I heard someone else say some manufacturers are charging a disposal fee this year too.

Took 13 days on my 1st deer, waiting on 2 more now. 1st is in my freezer, 2nd at a friends, 3rd still at processor since I just killed it last night. First was not detected, I expect the same result from the other two.

CWD insurance was 10$ at the processor I use in Tipton county, but I am sure it varies in each area.

My processor went up this year. I do not know if that is for the disposal fee. The CWD insurance was $25. I figured losing $25 was better than $115.

Well my deer (both) came back negative of CWD. I had been checking online for a few weeks. Someone said earlier in the thread that they got an email way before it appeared online. Since it was juvy and my kids tagged them, the email went to them not me on 11/7. I just grabbed their phones and checked. :bash:

I never got an email from the doe I killed Oct 12th. I checked online and got my results 3 weeks after I dropped it off. And yes twra has my email address because I have gotten a few emails from them since I shot my deer.

I suggest going in and checking your profile. They may have your email but it may not be in your profile.

I also believe there was a place on the Drop-off testing form to fill in your email address. But I might be remembering wrong ....
