Academy is the only store I can find that actually has some stock if you don't want a 35 Whelen or 45/70.

From where I sit the price is high. The H&R handirifle is priced way up there also. For single shot rifles they want too much money.

How is the price high. The cva rifles at academy are the cva hunter. You can buy them right now for $179.99 without scope and $199.99 with scope, how is that high. I own the older model scout which is now the hunter model in 7mm-08 and i wouldnt trade it for any other rifle made. They absolutely shoot dang good, very accurate. They are hands down a better gun than the H&R single shots. If you want to pay more money, the scout comes only in stainless and is made different and is over $300.00. But they are well worth there money, where else can you get a deer rifle scope and all for $200.00
 
You are right Stringtalker, I should have been more specific, the Hunter is under 200 where the exact same rifle in Scout is over 300. Stainless steel is over a 100.00 premium? The only Hunter models I can find are the "compact" ones which have short barrels and stocks, don't fit me. I went looking for after-market stocks but no luck.

So yeah, I think the premium of a Scout over a Hunter Model makes the CVA Scout pricey.
 
im a huge fan of the cva, if you want a single shot no better gun for a youth or seasoned veteran. give 179 for the gun and put a 200 leupold on it and you have and awesome package for 400 bucks

The scout model is different than the hunter. The scout barrel release lever is behind the trigger guard where the hunter model the barrel release is in front of the trigger guard. I know not a whole lot of difference, but the stainless does look better, both are nice guns, i love mine

The scout model is different than the hunter. The scout barrel release lever is behind the trigger guard where the hunter model the barrel release is in front of the trigger guard. I know not a whole lot of difference, but the stainless does look better, both are nice guns, i love mine

The trigger release on my Scout is in front of the trigger.

Yes it is, its like mine. You have the older model scout which is the hunter model now. The new scouts are different, go to cva.com
