CVA Paramount .45 Caliber

Anyone have any experience with this model. I think it's the first edition, not the "Pro". I believe the model is PR3503N. I have read and read. Some people say there's a lot of blow back. Others say none. All seem to agree accuracy is top notch. Throw in some information, both good and/or bad! Thanks!

I've got one. Awesome shooting muzzleloader. Most problems with blowback seem to be attributed to over tightening the breech plug. Only needs to be snugged up by hand. Mine has never had an issue. The only big drawback I know of is it is designed for blackhorn 209 powder which has become expensive and hard to find. CVA has actually stopped producing the Paramount's for that reason

I bought it. The guy had two jugs of Blackhorn with it. I have a stash of four more bottles so I'm anxious to try it. Thanks for the info!

I was shooting 98gr by weight of the blackhorn with the powerbelt elr bullets. It was shooting great so never tried any hotter. You'll need large rifle primers for the ignition. I just used CCI large but some guys use the magnum. Luke at Arrowhead Rifles makes another breech plug system a lot of guys use. Mine worked fine with no problems. Wish I could say how bullets performed because I really don't like regular powerbelt bullets performance on deer but the only thing I've shot with it was a coyote. I ended up buying a smokeless barrel for my encore last year from Arrowhead so the Paramount has set in the safe since
