I know this has been discussed a million times but im pressed for time and cant go back looking for everyones opinions. What is the best powder and bullets out of the 50 cal Optima? Mine is all over the place! Shooting 150 grains of pellets and 245 n
grain aerotip copper power belts.

Anything over 100gr in both of my Optimas will start opening up the groups pretty quickly. One of mine likes 90gr and the other like 100gr. With 100gr I can get 1 inch groups but with 110gr it jumps to 2.5 inch groups. I haven't tried a max load but I figure the groups will progressively get worse. I have never seen one shoot worth a flip with a max load. If cutting back on the powder doesnt help you might try some cheap XTP's from Wal-Mart. They seem to shoot fairly decent out of everything I have tried them in.

go to a 295g or higher if you want to shoot more than 100g, my optima pro is deadly with 130g and a 295 ,100g is all I used the last few years with it and 245g and up were accurate

Yea, too much charge. I went through a similar issue. The more I backed off on the powder the better the group. I agree with the above comment of 80 to 100

Gotta be the guy who disagrees. This morning at 150 yards with 150 gr Pyrodex, 275 gr Aerotip (black) Powerbelts with a 9 mile per hour crosswind and a pretty cheap Tasco scope.

I tried several combos out of my optima...100 grains pryodex and 270 PB also with 777 and 250 TC shockwaves..gun could not hit close to the same place twice (in a lead sled) steped up to 150grains prydex and 270 pb was touching the same holes.
