I'm posting this here in hopes of getting a little feedback - I bought a new optima v2 the other day shooting 295 gr. power belts and 100gr. Pyrodex pellets with Remington primers ( can't find winchester) . the problem I'm having is loading the follow up shot - the first one goes down like butter but the second hangs about 3 inches from the base of the barrel - it's all I can do to get it seated - I've owned optimas before and never had a problem seating this same load shooting multiple times - my shots are scattered and it almost feels like one of the pellets is breaking when I finally get the bullet seated - could this be an issue with the barrel or too hot of a primer perhaps - thanks in advance for any info
 
I have same gun and went to shoot yesterday to make sure still on, the second load was definitely much harder to push down but I did get it, just had to give a little extra elbow grease. I shoot old knight bullets with sabots, may just be the powerbelts
 
I have the cva apex which is the same barrel ....i shot mine last week for the first time i went with 250 grain hornady with red sabot covers and 120 grains of black horn powder shot it 4 times without cleaning and the 4th went down as smooth as the 1st.
 
Have you left it loaded for a while like after muzzy season when you put it up and you don't shoot it till after season? The bullet and powder could have rusted and pitted that spot

He said in his post it was new. My cousin has only had his a week.

I've read this is a residue ring caused by the primer not burning all the powder. I had that problem with 777 pellets but could shoot multiple shots with the loose 777 no problem
 
I also shoot a CVA Optima. Switching to loose powder fixed accuracy problems for me as well as helping with the problem you mentioned. I also try to spit-patch swab between shots.
 
I have a new optima v2 100 grains of BH209 and 250 grain hornady sst ,no problem at all .Have shot 10 to 12 times no cleaning between shots and dead on.
 
Thanks guys - I gonna try loose powder 2mrow and see where that gets me - good luck and be safe next week
 
crud ring,got it with 777 and pyrodex both. the higher the charge the worse it is. id try to shoot bh209 if I still smoked .
 
I used to own a CVA Optima (older version) and I had to sab after each shot or I could not load it. It was pretty accurate when I did this, but it was a major hassle. I traded it and got a smokeless. The Blackhorn may fix the problem, but I hear that some breech plugs have to be modified to use it.
