I just bought a new cva apex 50 cal. i took it to my local outdoor store to have scope put on it and it bore sighted and i told him to also to put in a breech plug to shoot blackhorn powder thur it. he said that it didnt need to be changed to shoot blackhorn thru it! what do you guys think about this??

I ordered the blackhorn plug from CVA. It will prevent the delay fire using blackhorn power. About the 5 or 6th shot it would delay fire until I changed and its not happen since. I got the info straight from a call to CVA and they did recommend the plug with CCI primers

You got a better answer than I did. Told them I was having some blowback issues. They told me I should use white hots and power belts. I never got a reply back when I told them there were better options than that

Its funny i have read several post here and other forums and its almost a 50/50 on to change it out or they haven't had any issues leaving in factory one.

Just have to try it and see I would think. BP has to be kept clean for sure, at least in my experience, which is still limited btw, using bh.
