I just ordered a CVA APEX 50 cal. black synthetic stock and stainless barrel. Was wondering what setup you guys have found that shoots best?Im trying to sale my Knight 45 cal. stainless steel cheap you can pm me. thanks

My current load for my Apex is a 250 gr Barnes TEZ flat base bullet in a Harvester smooth black sabot for 300gr and under bullet.

Group 1 was the first try with the above combo using 110gr of BlackHorn 209 powder at 100yds. My barrel was running hot so I cooled it off in my car with the AC..I think I got it too cold cause shot 1 in group 2 was high and left. Shots 2 & 3 printed back with group 1.

The conversion will run about $110 for the breech plug install, $40 for the breech plug, $200 for the 45-70 barrel, $50 for the full contour forend.

From what I have researched, the smokeless conversion with the Apex is a good shooter but if you don't want the added expense right now, you can tweak your Apex to be an excellent shooter. I installed a 2X hinge pin on mine and floated the forend with a steel washer between the barrel and forend.

Do you still have that 45 Elite for sale?

I did round up on everything to cover tax, shipping, etc..

Where can you get both the barrel and forend for $199?, that would be a good buy
