209 shot fine out of my older optima but I am prob gonna get a new model optima this week and wondered if it is still the same.

I really don't want to shell out an additional $30 for a breech plug if the original one works fine (which i will try and shoot and see but with ML only a week away if it doesn't shoot i won't have time to order one and it get here on time)

how many folks shoot 209 with the normal breech plug on the newer model CVAs?

I think it is hit or miss. You might not have any issues with the supplied plug but you might. I would go ahead and order the other plug to be on the safe side.
