cutting trails through fallen trees

I created some clear-cuts a couple of years ago, but deer haven't been using them. The other day I tried to check them out and no freakin wonder the deer aren't in them I'm going to be cutting some trails through it. It's going to be a long day.

I did that through an area where a tornado came through, and the deer took to them immediately.

In years past, there have been a few catastrophic ice storms or our property creating clearcuts of fallen timber. Deer never had a problem finding their way through. Me...that's a different story.

I'm with pass thru. I find it hard to believe that deer aren't using a clearcut.

Well when it's a tangled mess head high, deer will usually just take the easiest route, the area I cut trails in already has sign in it.

This is what I am doing on my property. Cutting 2 or 3 coming to all stand sites. Going to use a DR brush mower and make them about 2-3yards wide. After that they are the deer's I will travel them once a year in winter to knock down the edges to keep them open.
