Anyone ever shoot any of these? They look interesting but I have always been hesitant to try them.
 
Way too expensive for me. Barnes TTSX are about my limit in cost and I only need them for my 257 Weatherby due to it's high velocity which I fear is more than many other bullets can withstand for up close shots. For most of us using normal cartridges on nothing heavier than deer, standard lead core bullets are all that's needed.
 
Yeah I never tried them either as seemed overkill but I think the design is interesting and their marketing videos are fun to watch.
 
For hunting in Africa, obviously there are a lot of game animals that can justify such a premium bullet, so I guess it's up to you to test them and tell us about the results. :) The fast magnum medium bores used on the larger antelope's would be a perfect starting point I would think.

I have been contemplating that, someone needs to come with me on a trip and we both can field test them!
 
If I weren't so cheap and out of shape I would. :) I guess I'll just keep Africa as an unattainable dream by reading the classic hunting books about Africa.
 
Bottom line is if you need the performance they offer then its a small price to pay per animal. The quality of bullets has improved immensely since the 1970's and for most hunting situations in the lower 48 states a standard cup and core bullet works just fine if you balance the size of the bullet and the velocity.

I use the .400 240gr Raptor MZ in my .40 smokeless muzzleloader. It's a tough bullet.
