This is a hard decison to make but I must. I am offering up for sale my personal .45 SS Sav./Pac. The stock on this gun I had custom made by Kevin Rayhill from Stockade Stocks. They are hand made one at a time. It is black with grey spider webbing. What sets Kevins stock apart from the rest is the fact that he employs a very unique approach to ram rod storage by enlaying a aluminum tube IN the stock during the buliding process. This in turn ensures that there is no ram rod to barrel contact PERIOD!There is also a detent set screw incorporated to adjust the amount of tension put on the ram rod to hold it in place...therefore no ram rod thimble is needed. It is also of the Monte Carlo design. The cheek weld is excellent! The stock is bedded with the third pillar amd custom recoil lug along with a limb-saver recoil pad.I also installed a Savage Target spring and it makes for a outstanding long range hunting trigger! IMO,if you want the best .45 on the market here is your chance to own it. I want $1500 for this rifle and that does not include the 3.5x44x44 Zeiss Conquest that is pictured with it unless you want to pony up a additional $600 for it. The steel Warne Maxima bases and rings will be included along with a hard case to ship it in. 765-426-1145

sharp looking rig! Just curious DA , do you hate savage actions or just love rem 700's ?

Re: Custom .45 SS Smokeless

Whats to hate about the Savage action? It is the same action that they use for the 416 Rigby..far stronger than a 700 ml action. Plug and play. Truth be told the bottom line is that the Pac-Nor barrels make these guns not the actions.

no arguments about pac nor barrels

what are you thought on mcgowan barrels

Re: Custom .45 SS Smokeless

Sorry I just saw your post! The Mcgowan barrels shoot saboted very well. If you think you will go sabotless you stand a better chance of getting the Mcgowan and and running quicker.

So.... The McGowan shoots saboted or sabot-less better??

The McGowan shoots saboted well...not as accurate as the Pac-Nor saboted in my experience. As far as sabotless goes the McGowan has a more unifrom barrel from end to end MOST times and therefore is a little easier to get up and running sabotless VS the Pac-Nor where the muzzle end is tighter and this in turn makes sizing a little trickier to get right. Is that clearer?
