For sale is a 40 caliber smokeless muzzleloader. I really hate to sell "Shorty Forty" as she has been real good to me. However, I have too many and I have my last hoorah 40 in the works if Krieger will get their act together.
It is built on a large shank Savage RBRP Target action with the target accutrigger. The barrel is a Match grade 15 twist .400/.408 Rock Creek cut rifled narrow land .408 Cheytac barrel crowned at 22". The bolt nose is a one-of as it is slotted to hold the magnum bolt face primer module by the rim, which reduces the chances of losing it or falling off the bolt face during chambering. It is in an HSPrecision stock. The scope is a Vortex Viper 4-16×44 HSLR. Loaded with 4 extra charges, primer modules and bullets in the butt stock pouch, it weighs 12 pounds. The load I've always used in it is a 300gr Pittman Aeromax at 2750fps. It is no slouch and is quite accurate. We can't get these barrels any longer but they are very accurate. The sister barrel to this one won the Kentucky Challenge and has shot a .271" ctc 400yd group.
It comes with scope, buttstock pouch, 25 new magnum boltface primer modules, 70 300gr Pittman Aeromax bullets, 50 297gr Pittman Hammer bullets for full forming, 1bag of 100 Eastern Maine dry wool wads, 1 pound of its favorite powder, a full form sizing die, a smoothform sizing die, a bullet pushrod and Allen wrench for the sizing dies and a spinjag rotating bullet seater for your ramrod with jag profile machined to match the Pittman bullets. All you will need is a ramrod for loading and a Rockchucker reloading press for bullet sizing.
