Anybody got some input on how to catch Rockfish on the Cumberland River this time of year? What kinda artificial baits would work good? Im in Jackson Co. near Gainesboro. Was told a couple years ago they could be caught in the hot part of the summer anywhere there is a creek running into the main channel. Wanna try to boat a couple if possible. Any and all info is very greatly appreciated!
 
Go to Cookeville city lake and catch you some pollywogs. I here they really love em.
 
During the summer i burn them up below the dams..You can use any live bait skipjacks,shad,elwise or throw the biggest swim baits. Use at least a medium/heavy rod and 30lb test and hold on!
 
Really lookin to fish the river itself instead of below the dam. Ive heard that Jennings Creek is a popular spot for rockfish but not sure what part of it is fished. Any info on the river itself? Thanks.
 
I dont know about the area your talking but i can tel ya about the fish, they like colder water. Right now either like already mentioned tail waters or points that run into deep water.
 
Well, fished the river this morning....no luck as I dont know much about what im doing!! I dont think there is sucha thing as a Rockfish!! LOL.....I guess ill try below the dam next trip...will they still bite when there is no generation below the dam? Also how far up the Caney can you go till it starts getting too shallow?

Fished the dam yesterday evening during the generation didnt get a bite nor anyone else as far as I saw....Usd live and artificial

can't go but a couple miles up caney before it gets shallow unless you have a jet but you can float down real easy

jennings creek is a good place to get one in the spring but right now it would not be good
 
In those couple miles up the Caney can you find the fish there?? I know i cant go far with a 19ft Hydrasport bass boat but can i catch fish in that area?

yes you can, i like it a little better on up in the river where the fish are only in the deeper holes, they are more spread out down the river but if you can get some shad you should be able to catch one
