Well the cucumber plant is flowering great. As are my tomatoes and jalapeño peppers. I have tomatoes and peppers growing. But no cucumbers. Friends of the wife say they are not getting 'cukes either. Taking a sample of the green thumbs in here to see what's going on with the pros.

Ps: I do know about having to pollinate. So if that's something I should do. I figured not because the other vegetables are fruiting.

Not sure, but our little piece of dirt grows cucumbers very well. Wife has already been giving some away. She sews the seed in hills and usually has two or three plants per hill and usually at least five hills.

This is my first go. I just have the 1 cucumber plant, one pepper and 2 tomato plants. I'll have to get a picture. The plant is growing like crazy

They should get pollinated from the flowers on that plant, a single plant is supposed to produce male and female flowers. With the plant growing well, it should be getting the water and nutrients it needs. Maybe not getting bees in to pollinate them?

I haven't seen many bees around. I have noticed ants and other little flying creatures. I think I will use a brush or q-tip today and try a little artificial pollination

They start off making male flowers and later on the female flowers start coming also and you start getting cucumbers. Female flowers have a little cucumber behind the bloom. Male flowers have just the flower.

Yep, I knew that. I've had male flowers for at least 2 weeks. I'm gonna check for the female flowers and artificially pollinate them today.
 
Put our cucumbers our early and before we started seeing bee activity it was all vine and flowers. Maybe a misshapen cucumber or two.....but once the bees showed up, all the vines are loaded. Think your on the right track, try the q-tip method....or you can pop a male flower off and dab it on the female flower. Also, keep the soil evenly moist...bet you have cucumbers in no time.
 
I've had it when the nitrogen level is too high it will force only male flowers . It could be your soil is out of balance . What fert are you using ?
 
I like to train my cukes to grow up on a support be it a pole, plastic mesh fence or other. Seems like they produce more than on the ground and don't get as much blight, insects or fungus that way. Bees have been all over mine and they have many small cucumbers already.

None, as of yet. This is my first go-round. In the fall when its all over I am planning to till up the area, make it a little bigger and test/ add what is needed to the soil for next year.
 
I'm still getting about 3 to 4 gallons of cucumbers every 2 or 3 days.

There is some strange magic going on with my cucumbers. I will pick them and make double sure I have got them all. Come back 2 days and I will find 5 or 6 that have grown way too big. Its not possible they can get that big in 2 days !!!
 
Got my my first one picked. I have many more female flowers now. I see a few bees around the flowers also. I have also attempted to artificially pollinate them.

Side note: tomatoes are doing great. My jalapeño plant has produced 3 peepers, that I picked, and have more growing. Unfortunately I planted the pepper to close to the cucumber and the cucumber plant is over shadowing the pepper plant. I trimmed back some leaves, so hopefully it will start producing more flowers/ peppers.

I understand the strang magic...lol.
I'll pick them hard and still end up composting bucket fulls....we eat them fresh, pickle them, make cucumber and tomatoe salad and give them away....still compost bucket loads....its crazy.....but everything composted goes back to the soil so no waste...it works out.

We have cucumbers out the Wazoo! Zucchini that is overrunning us. Massive amounts of tomatoes. Canned 14 quarts of green beans last week in the first picking. Okra coming in good. Plenty of peppers. The corn is one to two weeks away. This year has so far been the best production from this little garden.
