That's just because it's all but illegal to own a firearm in Connecticut. Soon they will be the only state in this union with Atlatl and rock hunting seasons.

I suspect a lot of that has to do with their urban/suburban deer populations and only bows/crossbows being allowed in those areas, as well as the high percentage of the state that is urban/suburban.

It does BSK, basically said just that in the article. So much populated area overrun with deer that Archery is the only real way of dealing with them!! Sadly that's coming for many areas and states if the population continues to grow like crazy!BSK said:
BSK is correct. There are more hunting opportunities for bow than gun due to the "estate" hunting. That was pointed out on that abortion of a TV show "Chasing Tail". Fortunately that garbage got cancelled.

In 2013 all firearms equaled 5287
Archery equaled 6046.
However there are some factors not included. On private land 1,200 were killed and equipment type is not recorded and crossbows are allowedin all seasons and not differentiated from firearms.
My guess is, it was probably about equal.

There are more deer killed with a bow on President's Island WMA than there are killed with a gun!
