I was sitting here flipping through the channels and turned it on dead meat. There killing and eating crows!!!! Has anyone else ever tried crow? If so let's hear the recipe and how was it

I have watched a crow eat a roadkill possum that had been laying in the summer sun for a couple of days. I believe I will pass.

They said on the show that a crow will only eat fresh road kill. Everybody knows that what you see on TV and the internet is the truth. Are you sure they opossum was 2 days old. LoL

Recipe for crow. Take crow breast, marinate in terriaki sauce 24 hrs, heat oven to 300, place crow on wooden board, cook 3 hrs, throw crow in trash, eat board

I have 2 recipes for crow: a sandwich spread and a stew. The sandwich spread looks pretty good.
I'll take your word on "looks". But not sure about taste unless I were to venture to try it.... :D

They said it tasted like veal. I've eat groundhog carp and turtle. Might as well go for crow
what does carp taste like to you? been curious but I never feel like taking one home and dealing with all the bones.

Once. Didn't really taste like veal. Not bad, but not something I'd target just for the meat. The one I tried was killed on a farm in a big cornfield. Corn fed crows are apparently better than city crows.

Carp tastes like a shad smells but I have heard of different ways to cook it and I've heard when prepared right that it is delicious. Once was enough for me

Carp tasted like generic freshwater fish to me. That being said, I'm not a huge fish person.

I have never eaten crow, but saw a program on TV that showed guys hunting them and preparing them to eat after the hunt.

They did it two ways, One way was soaked in buttermilk for a few hrs then dredged in flour and pan fried. The other was grilled with fresh herbs.

I know it is all dark meat, very dark...........nearly black/blue looking.

Yeah, agreed. Tastes like fish. -used to be a delicacy in old world Europe.
if it is a meaty fish then I might like it, I prefer the meaty fish to the fine flaky ones although a breaded fried bluegill fillet is pretty good.

When I was a child I was taught I had to eat everything I killed hunting. I would shoot crows often and would cook them up with the rest of my birds. Taste no different than a black bird to me. I would debone the breast and make a roux with some peppers and onions, and serve it over rice. We called it bird jambalaya.

I would try crow if somebody went through the work preparing it for me and everything. I probably wouldn't shoot some crows on purpose to eat though.

I am a man that would eat anything, but I just don't know about carp. When matt_brown said a carp tasted like a shad smells just made me turn away from carp.

Switch the a and r and it is crap.

some people don't understand this but I see carp as more of a sport fish. One of my all time favorite fish to catch.

I work with two Czech guys and carp is Christmas dinner. Typically they are kept in a filtered tank for a week or two prior, probably similar to lobsters at Publix.

or crawfish, thy pretty much have to be purged. Mud bugs is a fitting name. Good with Cajun seasonings though

Haven't had the opportunity to try crow, but I would without hesitation.

As for carp, I've eaten it several times, and it was just fine, a good generic freshwater fish as mentioned before. Yes, the bones aren't a lot of fun, and are integrated into the flesh quite a bit as they fork and branch.

As for purging them, I tend to toss that into the same category as folks who believe venison is edible only when you soak it in water until it stops pinking it, or any other number of processes by which folks drain all of the flavor out of something. A carp is God's ultimate food fish. It is the hardiest fish out there. It will be the last fish alive in polluted or diminishing waters. And you "purge" the pollutants by cutting them out with the lateral strip of red meat.

Always has bothered me to see people killing them wholesale and them leaving them to rot. Abuse of a resource.

I wouldn't purge a carp, they don't eat garbage like people think they do. Crawfish and turtles eat rotted stuff on the bottom and I would purge em. Actually I'd rather just throw the turtles back in the water lol.

You'll never see me leave a carp on the bank to rot. I always release them but maybe someday I will be curious enough to bring one home.

I would try carp if someone prepared and offered, but by no means am I going to try and catch them and eat them myself, the same with crows.

What about buffalo? Anybody ever eat them? And im not talking about a bison lol.

buffalo are supposedly good eating minus the bones and are the #1 commercial fish in the US. Hard to catch on rod and reel and I haven't tasted any myself, but being in the sucker family they should be good, I hear regular suckers are good too.

It's a delicacy, mostly in the black community.

A friend of my dad's was raised pretty rough back in the day as they ate almost anything. He said that a robin redbreast was as good as a dove. A crow was better than a duck. A hawk or owl was really good because they had white meat like a chicken or turkey. Coons, groundhogs, and possums were all good but a fox or bobcat neither one was fit to eat. I asked him if he had ever eat a coyote but he said there werent no coyotes when he was younger.

Carp is fine. Just a generic white fish taste. Cut the blood line out. Buffalo isn't bad either. I have had Buffalo ribs several times. There is a in IL on the river that serves them and they are great. Also make fish cakes with them and carp. They pressure cook them then pick the meat. Then make them like Salmon patties.
