What is a good shot size for crows?

It depends on the area, the cover and the crows, My buddy and I set up in the edge of my half cut corn field not long ago, all I had was # 8's and they were coming in right on top of us, I think we got about 15,, they we coming in on top of us.. they usually do with the right sound and set up.. I really prefer 6 or 7 1/2's... full choke.. remember you can only hunt the weekends and only have 3 shells in the gun..

ive used a bunch of diffrent shot sizes and choke combos and the way i see it if your calling em into woods a mod choke and 7.5's are great in field edges i like full choke and 5s or 6s

Actually, even though a crow is a migratory bird, it does not fall into the same set of regulations as doves/ducks, geese, etc.
There IS NOT a requirement for the magazine to be plugged while hunting crows.

My local GW specifically told me I could only have 3 shells in my gun.. I asked him.. If.. I get checked and in the process of a ticket.. can I whip out my droid and show him this post and not have any worries??

I don't know if that would work, or not. You can go to the federal CFR and get the regs to show him. Or, have him give me a call and I'll try to educate.

We've been knocking them down at fair distances with 7 1/2 trap loads. The ammo is cheap and crows have thinner skin than you might think.

I have had great luck with #6 shot.

Be careful about taking the plug out of your shotgun. I had a friend that did that to crow hunt but forgot to put it back in for a dove hunt on a public dove shoot. As luck would have it, we got checked by a wildife officer on the dove shoot and it cost him plenty. :(
