I just transitioned how do you guys decock your bow after the hunt? Carry a target?

Put the cocking rope on it hold it with one hand and pull the trigger and then put the other hand on it and let it down slowly. That's what I do anyways.

I used to carry a dedicated arrow with a field point and would shoot it in a dirt bank. Then I found a youtube video on how to decock the bow safely using the cocking rope. Check on youtube for a video and your specific crossbow

I use a crappy old arrow and shoot it into the ground. If I'm going back the next day, I rarely bother to worry about it.

My Xbow had a safety feature where you to put an arrow in it, so I cut an old arrow about 10" long . Put cocking rope on and hold with one hand and pull trigger with the other.

I shoot an Excalibur grz2 which is very slow 300 fps at best. I do not shoot past 35 and that's if it's ranged perfectly
