Crossbow scope

Bought my 8 y/o son a crossbow this year and took it out to sight it in this weekend. I couldn't see the dots in the scope if you were in any daylight. If I aimed it down, i could see very well with it. Searched online and some suggestions that it was on backwards. I checked it looking the other way and you couldn't see anything then. Any suggestions on how to fix this or recommendations on a new scope?

I really like my Nikon crossbow scope. It does well in low light and is a big improvement from the factory Barnett scope I had

Now, I'm not questioning your ability or anything but this has happened to me before too.

1. The scoop should have a few different power settings for low light to bright light.

2. The battery might not be fresh enough from the box to fully light the scope.

The knob that powers it on should be able to keep turning for three or four turns that changes the moa and brightness of the dot. I would then buy a fresh battery to try.

The problem with a new scope is that they can be as pricey as the durn x-now itself.

1) I tried all the settings on red & green with no luck.

2) Put a new battery thinking the same thing. No luck there.

Ordered a Barska off of optics planet that was on sale from 94 for 33.xx. Hope it works better.
