Crossbow broadheads

What is your favorite crossbow broadheads for the ones that shoot them?

Went exclusively to crossbows a couple years ago due to not being able to hold back a compound for more than a couple seconds before having to to let down (both my shoulders are pretty beat up).

I have had the best field point accuracy and wound channels from either the SWAT X MAG or the Grim Reaper Pro Series or Grim Reaper original crossbow heads.

If you want a fixed blade take a look at the Ramcat Hydroshock Crossbow heads. They fly really well from high speed crossbows. Have tried some other fixed blades and these to me fly the most consistent to field points and leave some nice holes in deer also.

I have the wicked ridge invader x4. Not sure if that qualifies as a high speed crossbow or not.

Looked it up online me it says your crossbow is 360FPS which is faster than I think all compounds out there. But it's not just the speed with a crossbow it is so that initial shock of being fired that either prematurely opens a mechanical head or causes erratic flight.

Which arrows are you using with your setup and were you going to use 100 or 125 grain heads? Just wondering because I am trying to figure out your total arrow weight and KE.

I haven't gotten anything yet. Picking the crossbow up in a few. And gonna get bolts and broadheads as well.

I have same crossbow i use the tennpoint xx75 and the nap kill zones, i have killed 14 with this setup and have had no problems what so ever! Great accuracy, no bent bolts, no broke broadheads, and very short massive bloodtrails

IMO with your speed I would look at the Tenpoint Pro Elite or the Pro V-22 arrows. With a 100 grain broadhead that will put you at 400 grains with the pro elite and 420 grains with the Pro V-22. Should be plenty of KE to blow through a deer at 40 yards.

I've only shot WASP broadheads out of my Xbox for atleast 6-7 years now. Both mechanical and fixed. Tried so many different heads before these....... alot of heads

100% usa made. Been dropping deer since 1972 haven't had a single issue yet or been disappointed by one. so I've not had a reason to change for the last 6 years or so.

I got the Ten Point 420 with 100 muzzy fixed blade

Best of luck on the setup, I would sight in with field points then burn an actual head to confirm zero/make adjustments. Let us know how sight in goes.

I have used muzzy and G5. 100 and 125 grain of both. I can't tell much of a difference between any of them.

I set up my dads Excalibur years ago with Excalibur carbon bolts and muzzy 4 blade fixed heads. It shoots in the same hole at 25 yards and golf ball size at 40 yards. He still hasn't killed a deer with it but he shot a coyote with it at 40 and he could believe the blood trail.
I think your setup will be fine. Just shoot it a bunch and get used to the trigger. And shoot it out of your hunting stand blind or whatever to know how much clearance you will need to make an ethical shot.

I shot 125 gr Spitfires out of my Excalibur Matrix 380. Very accurate and deadly.

I use Muzzy or Slick Trick 100 GR. Both perform great and shoot the same.

I just bought a KI Ripper 425 and I've been using Schwacker 10gr., 2 blade, 1.75" for several years in my other bow. So far, only on targets, they seem to shoot very well out to 45 yards, haven't tried it beyond that. Consistently shooting 1" groups with three bots using both their practice heads and the broadheads. BTW, don't ever believe the hyped up speed claims from any of the manufacturers, they're like politicians and attorneys, you know when they're lying because their lips are moving.

I'm still using Rage Hypodermics in my Excalibur micro. Keep reading about folks having issues but they have taken down every deer that I've ever shot at so why change? Double lunged the 9pt that I took last year and watched him drop after running about 40 yards.

I'm totally with you on that. I've been using 2-blade Rage Extreme 2.3 heads, the regular version instead of the crossbow designed version, in three different crossbows since 2010. I've taken over 20 deer with that setup and never had an issue with the broadheads failing to open or opening in flight as some folks complained about a few years back. The most that any of the deer ran was 20 yards and the entry and exit wounds were absolutely devastating from a crossbow!!!

The simple fact is that shot placement is still king. If hunters do their part and consistently place their bolts and/or arrows into the kill zone, nearly all heads will provide a relatively quick and humane kill shot, regardless of if they are mechanical or fixed blade broadheads.

With so many companies trying to win your business and all of the opinions and tests its hard to pick just one. i have gone through the gamut of mechanicals, hybrid and fixed blades and have settled in on Muzzy Trocar's for both my compound and crossbows. They fly as straight as my field points and have great penetration. I particularly like the solid point and replaceable blades. The cost seems to be a bit more reasonable. Good luck.
