Crazy Dream

So last night I found myself dreaming about this upcoming bow season. I was 20' up looking over a lush green forest floor and waiting on a buck I have 3 years of history with to make himself known to me. Well as fate would have it a nice nanner head comes strolling by, so I decide it's a good opportunity to add to the freezer! I slowly stand up, stealthy and silent. I pick out my kill zone and my draw point. As the doe passes by the brush that will offer me cover to draw my bow without notice, I do so without hesitation or alarm. I'm thinking to myself, "here we are again, time to spill blood in the most natural and majestic way there is..."I take aim carefully settling my pin just behind the shoulder. I breath steadily and begin to apply pressure to my trigger and then the arrows takes flight. THWACK perfect hit! I climb down and meet my wife and begin the tracking job. We make it to the place of impact and find blood. A few more yards and the bloodtrail really began to pick up. 30 yards ahead I spot white in the underbrush and sure enough there laid my big beautiful venison laden button buck!!!!

Now I'm not trying to cause anymore controversy over this new regulation. In fact I'm in favor of it. I have never killed a button buck and I'm confident in my ability to positively identify a doe from a button and make the kill. However I can't help but think that in some way this is going to effect the doe harvest this year by adding a tinge of fear to hunters. I hope that isn't the case but after this dream I feel there is a possibility of it. By the way I really did have this dream last night.

I agree on affecting the doe harvest. Not only this fear of shooting one with Horn breaking the skin, in Rhea County (unit A) we lost 3 doe opportunities from last year. I haven't studied reg's on all counties, but I do think doe harvest will be down some.

The great thing about your dream is you didn't burn a buck tag because button bucks were, are, and will continue to be antlerless deer by definition. Congrats on the antlerless dream kill. I assume you checked it in correctly as an antlerless male - right?

I believe as more of the initial confusion is clarified concerning this definition change, there will be much less concern, especially when most realize there are not many "antlered" bucks that even exist with antlers "above the hairline" but less than 3" in length.

Exactly, there is no change regarding button bucks, which are still considered "antlerless".
