Crappie ?

I hit Arkabutla yesterday morning with not much luck...a few small fish and no keepers. While I was at the bait shop I picked up a Ms. hunting/fishing guide and while thumbing through it I noticed the record fish catagory. It had white and black crappie and also a Magnolia crappie. I've never heard of that. Anyone know what it is?

google it in, google images section... looks like a black crappie with red fins.

Ok, it's a hybrid cross between the white and black crappie. Pre-spawn crappie are caught and the eggs are squeezed from females and fertilized under ahigh pressure. This renders the offspring sterile. These crappie provide fishing for anglers as well as food for predator type fishes without the risk of overpopulation by the crappies themselves.
