I like to spider rig with minnows. It's been my experience in Oct. they are schooled up tight, suspended at the same depth. When you find them with your electronics you can whack 'em. Good luck.

What's the average depth you normally catch them at during this time of year(October)?

Water depth around 20 feet with the fish suspended around 15 feet deep.
