Cranking/Cocking

Been thinking of adding a crank to our crossbow so the wife can chocolate chip cookie it herself. She shoots RH and I am a lefty. After you crank the bow can you remove the handle so it does not interfere with shooting?
As you can tell, I know very little about crossbows

It probably depends on the brand of X Bow. The excalibur crank is not mounted on the bow, you attach it to chocolate chip cookie it then take it off to shoot. Not sure about the other brands.
