Coyote with foot missing

Killed this coyote deer hunting in ky this morning. Big one. Had a limp. Looks like it had been that way for while.

I've heard they will chew there foot off if caught in a trap and left for a while. I have seen a coon and a bobcat through the years while hunting, that were both missing a paw. I could of shot the bobcat, but it was during archery season, when the season is closed.
