I have a electronic calling set up. I have large fields to hunt. I have large clear cuts to hunt. These spots are loaded with coyotes, because I here them each evening hunt during deer season. My question is as a rule of thumb how do you begin your hunt as far as volume on your calling devise. And how long do you let the tape play. I have rabbit distress, and a deer distress tape. Any advice would be helpfull thanks.

Well, you might look at it this way, does a dying rabbit or injured fawn worry about running a coyote off by crying too loud?

The put out all the volume they can.

good point!

tried my luck yesterday. no luck on 3 setups. I used the cotton tail disstress tape. I know their are coyotes in the area. The wind was in my favor. May need another type sound.

I would start off low, you can always work your way up the farther into the set you go. Just a personal preference though.
