Coyote Calling question

I just bought a foxpro spitfire and was wondering how long you guys call. Do you just leave it on for the whole set or leave it on for a few minutes. It works great on crows by the way.

I assume your asking about a rabbit distress. It varies by hunters, but I generally call for about 2-3 minutes and stop for 2-3 minutes. I usually start with a couple greeting howls, wait a couple minutes and then go into my rabbit distress. A lot of times, they'll come check out the howl, especially if you've got one close. If you're not specifically targeting yotes, forget the greeting howls and go straight into your rabbit distress. My entire set will last anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes.

In the spring and early summer months you might want to try the Fawn distress..I will be honest,I've called more big momma does in during the summer with the fawn distress than coyotes,but coyotes do come to them.

Where did you get the Spitfire and how much was it?

I bought it from foxpro's website. It was 200 bucks and comes with 24 sounds that you can pick if you want.

I use both cottontail and jack rabbit distress. Don't ask why, but there's days a jack rabbit will produce when nothing else will, even though we have none. The fawn distress also works, though I see no particular time frame it works the best. These calls produce for me, and any given day is different.
