I haven't shown any of my calls here in quite a while, thought I'd post up some pics of the last one I made. (It's not available already sold) I've changed my style a little, seems to fit my hand a little better. It has a redwood burl barrel, and the bead and o-ring fitted toneboard are from Hippo tooth Ivory. I use a CA finish inside and out, buffed and polished to a very high gloss. I don't put a finish on the ramp of the Ivory, as I want the natural sound from the Ivory (My favorite, I have one of these on my own lanyard) I do the same with other materials buffalo horn, antler and wood.
I got this redwood burl from a fire jumper I met on the web. His father (also a fire jumper) had cut this from a redwood tree that had been in section that had been badly burned. Some of the wood I got had about 1/2" of char on it. He called it "carmalized redwood burl" as the fire had darkened or camelized the eyes of it. I got as much of it as I could as it's the nicest I've seen anywhere.
