Really cute. I heard this one was crying non-stop in the backyard after I finished cutting some grass. I went to check on it to make sure it wasn't hung in a fence or something and it came straight to me. Never saw mom. But if it doesn't shut up the coyotes will certainly come and get it.

Thanks for sharing, it is too cute. My daughters would want to adopt it. 😊

This is the fourth pic/story I have heard like this in last week or so. My buddy got off his tractor this weekend and had twin fawns jump up (no doe in sight or seen) and run into a hog wire fence. He had to help one of them that got stuck in the fence and was bellowing extremely loud. I told him I hope no coyotes were within ear shot.

Unfortunately, coyotes are really cued in for those sounds.

Best we can hope for with young fawn survival may be prey saturation, as there is an abundance now of rabbits, rodents, young birds, etc., which are helping to keep the coyotes from being hungry.

If a fawn can survive a few weeks, ole Wiley Coyote might prefer to be chasing a young rabbit instead.

I hear way too many coyotes around my place. I try and shoot evey one that strolls through the back yard. Probably should try calling them.

Natural for babies to cry when they are hungry or need mom, they don't realize they may be calling a predator. A couple weeks ago I had a fawn hanging out about 50 yards from the electric fence in my backyard. When our livestock guardian dogs are in the yard, they won't generally go through the electric fence, but I am sure the deer have somewhat of a comfort zone there where coyotes don't feel so safe and they do.

We don't hear nearly as many coyotes as we used to.
